Intercostal Neuralgia

Acupuncture for Intercostal Neuralgia/Ribs Neuritis

Intercostal neuralgia or ribs neuritis may produce sporadic episodes of acute pain or pain that is dull and constant. The pain is often described as stabbing, tearing, sharp, spasm-like, tender, aching or gnawing. It typically feels like the pain wraps around your upper chest in a band-like pattern. The pain may intensify during exertion or with sudden movements involving the upper chest, such as coughing or laughing.

Intercostal neuralgia or ribs neuritis is often associated with injuries or inflammation of the nerves, muscles, cartilage and ligaments in the rib cage and middle spine area or may cause by chest cavity surgery, pregnancy, tumors etc.

How does acupuncture work for Intercostals?

Acupuncture is very effective in treating intercostals neuralgia or ribs neuritis by promoting and inducing the energy and blood circulation to the involved area. By improving the circulation, the nerve tissues, muscles, cartilage and ligaments in the rib cage of the affected area can be nourished to repair the nerve and soft tissue’s functions and reduce pain.
